This booklet reconstructs the story of how silting and pollution hit the fishing village of Kuala Juru in the north of Peninsula Malaysia, and how the villagers fought back for their very survival as a community. The importance of this story goes far beyond the events that took place in just this one village. For there is not one but many Kuala Juru’s in Malaysia, several fishing communities suffering a similar plight – the rapid loss of their livehood due to the disastrous pollution of their rivers and seas. What will become of them all ?
